FIREFIGHTERS’ FOUNTAIN

Kansas City, Missouri

Designed by Larkin engineers, the Firefighters’ Fountain honors Kansas City firefighters. Located in Penn Valley Park near 31st Street and Broadway, the fountain was funded with contributions from local citizens and businesses.

Following a competition sponsored by the Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners, Tom Corbin, a Kansas City sculptor, was chosen to design two bronze sculptures for the fountain. Larkin engineers designed the fountain basin, underground mechanical room, granite memorial tablets, plaza areas, planters, landscaping, and fountain lighting.

Firefighters’ Fountain was completed in 1991 at a cost of approximately $650,000 excluding the sculpture cost.
