INDOOR/OUTDOOR AQUATIC RECREATION CENTER
North Liberty, Iowa
Larkin Aquatics completed the design of this $5.3 million addition to the North Liberty Iowa Community and Recreation Center. Our aquatics planners and designers worked with community leaders and volunteers over an eight-month period to identify community needs and develop conceptual plans for the facility.
Various alternatives were explored before making the decision to design a modern indoor & outdoor combined aquatic center. Larkin developed a program that encouraged and developed community support and consensus through all stages of the process; successful communications were demonstrated through the passage of a bond issue by an astounding 76 percent of the vote.
Final design of the facility was complete and the project bid in April 2003. The grand opening in May of 2004 was the realization of a long-held dream for the residents of North Liberty. The entire project includes a gymnasium addition, an indoor 4-lane natatorium complex, and an outdoor aquatic recreation pool complex.
