INDOOR POOL
FULLER HALL COMMUNITY CENTER
Webster City, Iowa
The Fuller Hall Trust Group of Webster City, Iowa hired the team of Larkin and an Iowa architectural firm to design a new indoor handicapped-accessible pool for the Fuller Hall Community Center. A primary focus of the design team was to increase accessibility throughout the multi-level facility. As prime consultant, Larkin Aquatics' key responsibilities were to provide engineering support to the project architect through the incorporation of ramps and elevators throughout the building, in addition to, designing improvements to the existing pool area. Our design included a new six-lane, 25-yard pool for recreation, exercise and instruction.
Larkin was also charged with determining the fate of the existing pool area. The original carbon steel pool was constructed close to and below the building foundation. This made demolition of the pool risky to the foundation of the entire community center. Our design effectively eliminated all foundation problems and enabled construction of the pool in the exact manner desired by the client.
