MEYER MUNICIPAL AQUATIC CENTER
Iowa Falls, Iowa
The new Meyer Municipal Aquatic Center is located at the same site as Iowa Falls’ two previous swimming pools. Eager for a new facility, the City hired Larkin to evaluate the existing site and compare it to several other potential sites. Our engineers concluded, for the type of facility the City desired, the existing site would be most suitable.
The City preferred a single pool design, which includes a 25-yard, six-lane competition and lap swimming area; a therapy area, a diving area with two 1-meter boards; a plunge area with two water slides; shallow water area with zero-depth entry and spray fountains; and an adjacent sand play area and grass area. In addition, several shade structures are located around the deck area.
Larkin’s design also incorporated a bathhouse and filter house with a shaded concession area separating the two facilities.
